Don’t panic.
Don’t fear.
Don’t fret.
Don’t worry.
Don’t try to find your own solution.
Don’t manipulate the situation.
Don’t take matters into your own hands.
Don’t believe that God helps those who help themselves.
Don’t give in to the temptation of making the problem go away yourself.
And know…
And trust.
And have faith.
And never forget.
And realize.
And be certain.
And be assured.
And grasp.
And understand.
That I am God…
I am your creator.
I am the owner of the cattle of a thousand hills.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
I am the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
I am the maker of the universe.
I am the keeper of your heart.
I am your redeemer.
I AM.
Be still and know that I am God.
And pray.
And trust.
And wait.
And listen.
And obey.
And follow.
And seek.
And beseech.
Be still.

I love this! I waited to read this because I thought I might participate in 5 Minute Friday and I didn't want to be tempted to "copy." But I never did do it. SO...here I am finally reading.
What a great reminder to meditate on all God is to help us to be still and to not do but rather to trust, etc. This is substance, by the way!
Hi Gaby. I've been thinking about this, and I'm wondering if you wouldn't mind explaining to a non-Christian what you mean by "don't try to find the solution...don't take matters into your own hands." You can't really just do nothing, can you? For instance, you spoke before about your job being something that God had planned for you back when you were an undergrad, studying Spanish and working as a TA. But if you hadn't looked online for jobs (or networked or whatever you did), you wouldn't have found it, would you? So don't you have to do something, having faith that it'll work if God wants it to?

Hi, Deborah. I think I'm going to e-mail you on this one, if that's ok. I think it would be easier to answer you on e-mail than in this limited space. That being said, if anyone reads Deborah's question and has some good insights, feel free to share them. It is a great question!
Maybe you should write a whole blog post about what you tell Deborah! Being still, letting go, relinquishing--these are all easy ideas to understand but very, very hard to put into practice! Love what you did in your five minutes.
Be still.....I use this phrase often with my kiddos when they are fussing or worrying. I reminds me of the Lord's whispers to me in my times of fussiness or worry.
