Our Story, Part I

Once upon a time there was a maiden who was brought into this country as a young child by her mother. They came from a faraway land, with a strange language, and strange customs. They came seeking treasures and fortune. They didn’t know anyone and felt very lonely at times. They didn’t know that the King of Kings already knew they had come and was waiting to meet them.
One day the King sent one of his daughters, a princess, to befriend the young maiden and bring her to his castle. The maiden loved the King and the King loved the maiden. He adopted her and her mother into His family. Now the maiden and her mother were happy to be part of the King’s big family and they no longer felt alone.
The King blessed the maiden and her mother with many good gifts. When the young maiden became of marrying age the King brought one of her sons to her to marry. The boy was kind and hardworking. He didn’t have much wealth to offer her, but he had a loving heart, a tender touch, and an easy smile. She loved him very much and the King blessed their union.
A few years later the maiden and the boy wanted to have a baby. They dreamed of a tiny baby with beautiful eyes like the boy's and curly locks like the maiden's. But try as they may, a baby would not come. They sought the local doctors but the local doctors could not help. They were told to do many different incantations to bring forth a baby and the doctors offered to help them. But the boy and the maiden talked to the King, as they did anytime they did not know what to do, and the King told them not to listen to the doctors. “I have a better idea!” said the King joyously. “Just wait and see!”
So the maiden and the boy waited for the King and trusted Him because He had always kept his promises. One day the King called the maiden and the boy to Him and told them:
“-I have a baby for you. She is a little girl. She doesn’t look like you or like the baby you dreamed about, but she needs a mom and a dad like you need a baby. Will you be her family?”
The maiden and the boy could not believe their ears and thankfully and happily accepted the King’s proposal. They brought the little girl home and called her Daughter. She had beautiful eyes, not like the boy’s, more beautiful yet. And curly locks, not like the maiden’s, but softer and silkier yet. She was lovely and she was perfect and she was loved.
The little girl grew and brought her parents much joy. The maiden and the boy told her all about the King and taught her how to talk to Him and the little girl also loved the King and the King brought her into his family as well. And the maiden and the boy were content and thanked the King every day for her. But the King, being who He was, was not yet finished with the maiden and the boy. He had more in store for them…
